reduce reuse and recycle

Prompt: Which environmental cause is closest to your heart and why?
I think reducing, reusing and recycling is closest to my heart because of the impact it can have on the whole world.
- We're using up resources faster than they can be replenished
- We're throwing away stuff that could be recycled but instead ends up in our water supply hurting not only the water but the living things within it. All these non-biodegradable items and ones that take years to biodegrade are just sitting around making us sick and killing things and animals we need.
- There are so many things that could be reused or even upcycled and it just breaks my heart to see so much of it going to waste.

It is not that hard to recycle. I live in an apartment where I'm fortunate enough to have bins within walking distance, but even when I didn't I would just pack my car up and drive it to a recycling location. I reuse bottles until I feel like they need to just head to the recycle bins and I try to avoid buying things that are not recyclable like the packaging on Capri Suns and NutriGrain Bars.

I've become obsessed with Pinterest too and love all the things that folks pin for reducing, reusing, recycling and upcycling. I think we all just need to be better about taking care of our planet. I know it can be annoying to recycle when throwing things away is so much easier for the lazy, but we have got to think long term! Let's leave a planet for our children and our children's children that is still in good condition!

  1. I didn't know that the packaging on Capri Sun wasn't recyclable! I've seen people up cycle Capri Sun packages though! I don't think it's annoying to recycle at all, although my boyfriend does. He knows better now. Otherwise, I get very upset with him!
