You Can Trust Me

trust me image by businessgrow

Recently someone promised me that I could help on a BIG project. It was guaranteed to make everyone involved a lot of money and having me be part of it would not only be fun, it would help me get more work. Then, when it came time for the project to begin, they stopped returning phone calls and emails because they chose to not work with me after all.

I was really hoping to be part of this project. No, I didn't have a contract, but I was excited at the prospect and had a promise from a VERY reliable person (so I thought) that if this project did in fact get started I was the perfect person for the job. Then...nothing...

Needless to is one of those days where I'm feeling like there isn't anyone out there I can trust. I have folks promise me the world and then leave me in the dust when it comes time to honor the promises they have made. I have always tried to do the things I say I will and strive to make everyone happy in my relationships. People know they can rely on me and that if I say something I will do it. I want to collaborate with people on projects and do big things but it gets really frustrating when people keep burning bridges and burning me. I know that in business you are not supposed to take things personally and you are supposed to check your emotions at the door, but the levels of betrayal I've experienced in the past year have made it very difficult to not get emotional. Am I alone? Am I just being too girly?

I'm at a point where I feel like I should just do everything in my power to not have to work with anyone on anything. I feel like I'm back in high school with a group project and know that zero hour will come and everyone will leave the task to me because they know I refuse to take an "F" even though it means I'll be up all night doing the project by myself. I feel like I'm the only person I can trust to get anything done. Everyone is filled with excuses and only cares about themselves, so should I just care about myself too? Should I let others down and quit offering assistance on projects? I don't want to be that person. I don't want to hurt people. I want people to like me, be able to rely on me and expect things to get done when I'm on board. I want people to trust me, but is that the problem?

Guess I Should Stop Working From Home

Work From Home image

ok. It's official. I can NOT be at home and expect to get any work done. I have gotten more accomplished working at coffee houses, in libraries and other Wi-Fi hot spots than I EVER get done at home. It seems when I am home all I do is work on laundry, the dishes, catching up on Facebook gossip, play stupid Facebook games, check my email 1,000 times and basically any task I can come up with to avoid work. Because of this, I think I'm just going to have to make it my mission to rarely be at home during the days from now on!

Do you work from home? Does it work for you? (see what I did there? Play on words! LOL I crack myself up!)

The Best Birthday Gift I Got Today

its mah birthday

Today the best gift I received was from my husband and it wasn't a product you can buy at a store, it wasn't flowers you can pick, it was the reminder that I should be grateful for everything I already have. You see, he did get me a few DVDs I've been talking about FOREVER for my birthday and he has taken me out to eat a few extra nights, but the reason this reminder to be grateful for everything I already have was so significant is because I've been taking it all for granted lately.

The truth is, since we wed six years ago things have not exactly been a breeze. We've struggled financially, we've had ups and downs with my career and his, but through it all we've stayed together and stayed in love. It's easy to forget just how lucky I am when I'm seeing things go wrong. However, as much as I say I need to remember to be grateful daily and have an attitude of gratitude I spend more time complaining about what I don't have then being excited about the things I do.

This morning I woke up, I sat up in a nice bed complete with covers that kept me warm throughout the night and a fan that blocks the outside noises allowing me to have a good night's sleep, I then put my two feet on the floor and stood up on two legs and was able to walk into the closet and get ready to begin my day. After picking out clothes from a big selection of things to wear I got dressed, put on perfume, put on deodorant, even put on makeup and then went into the kitchen to prepare snacks to bring with myself for the day. Lastly, I went downstairs got in my car and drove my husband to work.

Family, friends, health, food, clothes, a bed, a place to stay, a car and so many other things I don't really think about that when I stop and think about them I realize how truly thankful I am to have. The next time I get caught up in stuff I want I hope someone is there to remind me again about the things I have, because that is the most awesome gift!!

My First Time: Trying Nutella Crescent Rolls

nutella crescent rolls
As much as I've talked about Nutella, I've only had it once and it was on a crepe on the MOSI Chocolate Festival. After the festival I bought a jar and then it sat in my pantry...and it sat and it's about to frikkin' expire so it was time to make something with it and I found Nutella stuffed crescent rolls HERE!

These things were so delicious OMG! It was like a foodgasm in your mouth. You MUST try these if you like Nutella even a little bit.  They are like chocolate stuffed doughnuts.

  • So simple too. All you need is one can of crescent rolls*, 1/2 cup sugar*, 1 tsp of cinnamon* and a small thing of Nutella.
  • Preheat the oven according to the crescent roll instructions.
  • Mix the cinnamon and sugar while you are preheating the oven
  • Coat the crescent rolls in the cinnamon and sugar mix
  • Place a spoonful of Nutella onto each roll and roll them up and place them in an ungreased baking sheet
  • Bake according to the crescent roll instructions.
  • Let them sit about five minutes and then plate and enjoy while warm.

* I subbed reduced fat crescent rolls and organic sugar
* I only used 1/2 a tsp of cinnamon because too much gives me indigestion LOL
