On November 22, 2011 my husband got into a car accident. The guy that was in front of him slammed on his breaks AT A GREEN LIGHT and my husband rear ended him. The guy jumped out of his car and began apologizing profusely for causing the accident. Unfortunately in Florida when you rear end someone if you call the cops, you immediately are given the ticket for following to closely or whatever the cop decides to ticket you for because if you rear end someone it is your fault even when its not your fault.
The cop on scene said he was sorry he had to give us a ticket and said we should fight it in traffic court because even he disagreed with having to give us one but that is not the current issue at hand...
It was Thanksgiving weekend when the car was towed to Toyota of Tampa Bay and we were informed that because of the fact that it was a holiday weekend our car would probably not even be looked at until the following Monday...okay...makes sense...we're in a rental car at this point so no problem.
Monday we are told that our car will not be totaled, it will instead be repaired by Toyota of Tampa Bay...many unanswered calls and angry messages later we receive our car back and the check engine light came back on. So...we brought it back...after arguing to get it fixed the issue was fixed and we were given our car back a few days after Christmas.
Well, over the past week we have been noticing some trouble so on Friday my husband called to tell them something was still wrong. We called Geico, we called Toyota and no one would help us. Our guy with Geico NEVER CALLED US BACK on Friday. That was the first problem. So...we called the repair shop and they said they could not help us until Geico authorized them to look at the car...so we called back Geico.and our agent NEVER CALLED US BACK!
Of course...here we are on Monday and our Geico guy's phone is saying he is now on vacation and Geico is telling us they can't do anything without his authorization. Awesome! NOT!
So, fine...the plan was to drive the car their tomorrow morning but I attempted to drive the car to the grocery store this afternoon and now it doesn't move AT ALL!
Needless to say here were are a few hours of phone calls and angry messages later and Geico is saying they can not help us at all today and to bend over and take it...the car won't move! This is our only damn car! We need a car to get to work and they won't help us at all...
Trying to get a rental car now and are probably going to be screwed by the $40 airport fee because since they didn't get back to us in time to tell us they would not help us we are stuck having to find the only damn place open after 6.
First thing tomorrow I'm looking for a new car insurance company!
