Never Give Up- No Matter the Obstacle!

I saw this story and photo on facebook and just had to share it! Never give up my friends! No Matter the Obstacle!

"One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less from people but more from yourself."

Thirsty Thursday- Chocolate Chicken

chocolate chicken
Today's drink is called the Chocolate Chicken. This delicious concoction is quite potent because of how much alcohol is in it. However, it goes down smooth and tastes really good. The recipe was found here and you can make it yourself too. The only thing different from the one below and the one in the photo is we added a swirl of chocolate syrup to the glass and we shook the ingredients before pouring them into the martini glass. Yum!

Quantities for one drink:

-1/2 oz Crown Royal® Canadian Whisky
-1/2 oz Wild Turkey® Bourbon Whiskey
    -1/2 oz 151 Proof Rum
    -1/2 oz Amaretto Almond Liqueur
-1/2 oz Dark Creme de Cacao
    -1/2 oz Kahlua® Coffee Liqueur
    -1/2 oz Bailey's® Irish Cream
    -Cream

      Blending Instructions:

      • Fill glass with ice, add all ingredients and fill the rest of the glass with cream!

      The BEST Sangria Recipe EVER

Photo by me, taken for TampaBay.Metromix.com in 2011

Over the weekend my mom had a party and I wanted to bring Sangria for all the girls to enjoy. Thanks to an awesome bartender's tip I got my hands on a delicious Sangria recipe that was such a hit at the party that everyone asked for the recipe. Here it is:

      What You Will Need:
      - 4-6 shots of Brandy (depending on how strong you want the liquor content)
      - 4-6 shots of Triple Sec (depending on how strong you want the liquor content)
      - 2 shots of OJ
      - 2 cups of Sprite (if you would rather have more alcohol sub Champagne for the Sprite.)
      - 1 3Liter Bottle of Carlo Rossi Sangria Wine
      - 2 cans of fruit cocktail in juice (NOT SYRUP)

Since it produces enough Sangria to make two pitchers, to make it easier on myself I poured half the Carlo Rossi Sangria Wine into one pitcher and the other half into a second pitcher. To each pitcher of wine I added 2-3 shots of brandy, 2-3 shots of Triple Sec, 1 shot of OJ, 1 cup of sprite and 1 can of fruit cocktail in juice. Don't drain the can of fruit cocktail! Add the whole thing. The sweet juice takes away the bitterness of the wine so there isn't an aftertaste.

Mix it all up and let it sit for about 4-6 hours prior to drinking. Stir it before serving.YUM!

Article Spotlight- Ghost Hunting in the Tampa Bay Area

Halloween is fast approaching and even though ghost hunting happens all year round, the number of tours and hunts will increase for the spooky season. Ghost hunting can be scary but you ain't scared of no ghost! If you are looking for ghosts in the Tampa Bay area, here's a list of spots to get your paranormal hunt started.

      1. The Tampa Theatre

It has long been believed that The Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa is haunted. The Tampa Theatre hosts tours frequently and there are reports of unexplained movement, orbs, shadows and disappearances. Many of the staff have their own tales of things that have happened a throughout October the theater will be inviting people to learn more about the ghosts that allegedly haunt the building.

Article Spotlight- My First Pumpkin Facial

The Famous Ashley Grant gets a pumpkin facial for the first time
Halloween is just around the corner and pumpkins are already being sold in stores. When most people think of pumpkins they think of carving them, baking pumpkin seeds or even making pumpkin pies. Odds are getting a facial isn't exactly at the top of the list.

I've never been much of a fan of the flavor of pumpkin, but I have always loved the smell. I heard from a friend that Salon Lofts in Tampa was offering pumpkin facials, and since I'd never had a facial I figured trying it with the scent of pumpkin would be the perfect way to be pampered. I'm No Longer a Substitute Teacher!

On one hand I am thrilled to be writing this post; on the other hand I’m not. I’m thrilled because I never liked being a substitute teacher and everyone who knows me knew that this was the case. Substitute teaching was stressful, depressing and made my tubes tie themselves in a not.

Due to the video above (and kids finding it and sharing it) I was asked by the office of Professional Standards at the School District of Hillsborough County whether I would like to remove all of my un-kid friendly videos and find a way to keep my job as a substitute or if I would like to resign/be fired. I opted to resign immediately. So, at 1:40 p.m. in an office I did not want to be sitting in on a borrowed blue legal pad I wrote the fastest resignation letter I’ve ever written in my life that basically stated I’d rather keep my job as an entertainer than to continue my position as a substitute teacher.

I never wanted to be a substitute teacher in the first place. I only signed up as a fall back plan. I thought if I couldn’t get a story for the news or a photography gig to make money I would just substitute teach to pay the bills. Sadly, I didn’t want to end on these terms but it is for the best. I acknowledge my videos on Youtube are not kid friendly. I never intended to cause a ruckus and never wanted to upset anyone.  I'm sorry to anyone who has seen my videos and been offended by anything I've said.

Now, it’s time for the next chapter of my life- one where I hustle at being famous a little harder because I have no fallback plan. Time for Operation Get Famous to get a swift kick in the ASH so I can make more money doing things I love and avoid the things I hate doing.

You CAN Save Your Life if you Act Fast!

Everyone around me lately has advice to offer and a class to teach and it feels like all I get lately is emails offering me a way to save my own life, my business, my marriage, my family for $500 but if I act now it's $499.99. I feel like unsubscribing from every list I'm on, cutting through the bullshit and just focusing on what I want and figuring out how to get it and then getting it.

What exactly do I want? I want to be a traveling problogger that makes enough money to live on while traveling the world.

How can I get it? Sell everything I own and take off with just my laptop, my camera, my husband and some clothes. Oh yes, and MONEY. I need money to travel from place to place, get food to eat and have a place to snooze.

What am I lacking right now to make my dreams come true? MONEY

How can I get what I lack? Build up all of my blogs in terms of traffic and find a way to make money off of them and then keep doing that while I travel.

What's in my way? Laziness. Pure and simple. I sit around with big dreams and let the fact that I haven't accomplished them make me depressed. Then, instead of doing anything about it, I sit around some more. Then, I get more depressed about the fact that I have been lazy so I keep being lazy. The funny thing is though when I stop being lazy and just get shit done I feel happier.

So...what have I learned? I don't need any more coaching. I know what I want and how to get it. Now, I just need to DO IT! The longer I sit around looking for the easy path and for someone to just hand me a million dollars the longer it will be until I become a traveling problogger.

That's all. That's my rant for the day. Unsubscribing from all the self help site lists I'm on and just going to start actually helping my self starting NOW.

      Help Me Save A Home!

Someone very close to me is facing foreclosure due to medical woes that made things difficult for some time and I want to do everything in my power to help this person. They have been there for me through some of my toughest times and now it's time for me to give back to them. Because of this my mom (Terry of Terry Ann's Treasures) and I are teaming up to sell crafts, host fundraisers and do a couple of garage sales to help this person through their difficult time. We are hoping that by working together we can raise enough money to pay the legal fees and the other fees associated to fight the foreclosure, save the home and help this person get back on track.

How can you help? I've added a donation button to the top right hand corner of my page and you can donate any amount you want. I'm also going to add some crafts for sale to this blog in the coming days and 100% of the proceeds will be going to this fund. If you want to send a check you can make them payable to Ashley Grant and send to PO Box 340237, Tampa, FL 33694.

Have any ideas on how to help? I'm all ears and would love to hear any ideas you may have on helping me save this person's home.

Why the vagueness on who the person is? I'm sure you can understand that getting behind like this is embarrassing and this person feels humiliated and so bummed by their situation and said if I was going to help to please not identify them. I will tell you this person is a hard worker, has sacrificed themselves for the sake of others many times and deserves to have someone help them now in their time of need.

It should be noted this person is employed and working full time and trying to work side jobs to make ends meet. They just need a hand in getting back on their feet.

I'm so excited about helping this person. Thank you in advance for your help! I appreciate it more than you know and I can't wait to post that we saved the home.

      You Can Trust Me

      trust me image by businessgrow

Recently someone promised me that I could help on a BIG project. It was guaranteed to make everyone involved a lot of money and having me be part of it would not only be fun, it would help me get more work. Then, when it came time for the project to begin, they stopped returning phone calls and emails because they chose to not work with me after all.

I was really hoping to be part of this project. No, I didn't have a contract, but I was excited at the prospect and had a promise from a VERY reliable person (so I thought) that if this project did in fact get started I was the perfect person for the job. Then...nothing...

Needless to say...today is one of those days where I'm feeling like there isn't anyone out there I can trust. I have folks promise me the world and then leave me in the dust when it comes time to honor the promises they have made. I have always tried to do the things I say I will and strive to make everyone happy in my relationships. People know they can rely on me and that if I say something I will do it. I want to collaborate with people on projects and do big things but it gets really frustrating when people keep burning bridges and burning me. I know that in business you are not supposed to take things personally and you are supposed to check your emotions at the door, but the levels of betrayal I've experienced in the past year have made it very difficult to not get emotional. Am I alone? Am I just being too girly?

I'm at a point where I feel like I should just do everything in my power to not have to work with anyone on anything. I feel like I'm back in high school with a group project and know that zero hour will come and everyone will leave the task to me because they know I refuse to take an "F" even though it means I'll be up all night doing the project by myself. I feel like I'm the only person I can trust to get anything done. Everyone is filled with excuses and only cares about themselves, so should I just care about myself too? Should I let others down and quit offering assistance on projects? I don't want to be that person. I don't want to hurt people. I want people to like me, be able to rely on me and expect things to get done when I'm on board. I want people to trust me, but is that the problem?

Guess I Should Stop Working From Home

      Work From Home image

ok. It's official. I can NOT be at home and expect to get any work done. I have gotten more accomplished working at coffee houses, in libraries and other Wi-Fi hot spots than I EVER get done at home. It seems when I am home all I do is work on laundry, the dishes, catching up on Facebook gossip, play stupid Facebook games, check my email 1,000 times and basically any task I can come up with to avoid work. Because of this, I think I'm just going to have to make it my mission to rarely be at home during the days from now on!

Do you work from home? Does it work for you? (see what I did there? Play on words! LOL I crack myself up!)

The Best Birthday Gift I Got Today

      its mah birthday

Today the best gift I received was from my husband and it wasn't a product you can buy at a store, it wasn't flowers you can pick, it was the reminder that I should be grateful for everything I already have. You see, he did get me a few DVDs I've been talking about FOREVER for my birthday and he has taken me out to eat a few extra nights, but the reason this reminder to be grateful for everything I already have was so significant is because I've been taking it all for granted lately.

The truth is, since we wed six years ago things have not exactly been a breeze. We've struggled financially, we've had ups and downs with my career and his, but through it all we've stayed together and stayed in love. It's easy to forget just how lucky I am when I'm seeing things go wrong. However, as much as I say I need to remember to be grateful daily and have an attitude of gratitude I spend more time complaining about what I don't have then being excited about the things I do.

This morning I woke up, I sat up in a nice bed complete with covers that kept me warm throughout the night and a fan that blocks the outside noises allowing me to have a good night's sleep, I then put my two feet on the floor and stood up on two legs and was able to walk into the closet and get ready to begin my day. After picking out clothes from a big selection of things to wear I got dressed, put on perfume, put on deodorant, even put on makeup and then went into the kitchen to prepare snacks to bring with myself for the day. Lastly, I went downstairs got in my car and drove my husband to work.

Family, friends, health, food, clothes, a bed, a place to stay, a car and so many other things I don't really think about that when I stop and think about them I realize how truly thankful I am to have. The next time I get caught up in stuff I want I hope someone is there to remind me again about the things I have, because that is the most awesome gift!!

My First Time: Trying Nutella Crescent Rolls

      nutella crescent rolls
As much as I've talked about Nutella, I've only had it once and it was on a crepe on the MOSI Chocolate Festival. After the festival I bought a jar and then it sat in my pantry...and it sat and sat...now it's about to frikkin' expire so it was time to make something with it and I found Nutella stuffed crescent rolls HERE!

These things were so delicious OMG! It was like a foodgasm in your mouth. You MUST try these if you like Nutella even a little bit.  They are like chocolate stuffed doughnuts.

      • So simple too. All you need is one can of crescent rolls*, 1/2 cup sugar*, 1 tsp of cinnamon* and a small thing of Nutella.
      • Preheat the oven according to the crescent roll instructions.
      • Mix the cinnamon and sugar while you are preheating the oven
      • Coat the crescent rolls in the cinnamon and sugar mix
      • Place a spoonful of Nutella onto each roll and roll them up and place them in an ungreased baking sheet
      • Bake according to the crescent roll instructions.
      • Let them sit about five minutes and then plate and enjoy while warm.

      OMG!!! SO YUMMY!!! ENJOY!
      * I subbed reduced fat crescent rolls and organic sugar
      * I only used 1/2 a tsp of cinnamon because too much gives me indigestion LOL

How to Make Sports Inspired Drinking Glasses

Here it is guys! My first video in my first ever web series. Initially I was going to do a series of videos on one subject, but after REALLY thinking about it I decided to just go with what I know best and that is how to make stuff! I love crafting and thought a series of crafting and how to videos would be a ton of fun and every week I plan to load a new video of a craft I've done and show you how you can make it too! This also helps me with one of my tasks for my 101 in 1001 challenge! So, without further adieu...check out my video for How to Make Sports Inspired Drinking Glasses

You can check out all of the videos I've loaded on Youtube HERE!!

      WikiHow's How to Get Famous

In an effort to become the Famous Ashley Grant I've started reading articles about how to get famous and happened upon How to Become Famous in 5 Steps from Wikihow.

Oddly enough the 5 steps are not written items 1 through 5 but upon further review there are in fact 5 steps listed:

      1. Understand that there is more than one way to become famous. This is my favorite tip! They even give ideas of ways to become famous. Unfortunately I'm not sure which ones will work for me...

        • Write a best-selling novel. -Working on it, but I'm thinking eBooks will be my actual path to being a best seller

        • Perform a popular song. - Nah, I may have won a singing contest at Wal-Mart, but I highly doubt this will actually get me famous. Although, I reckon I could try it and throw it on Youtube...anything is possible I suppose.

        • Become an actor. - Easier said then done. I don't even know where to begin in terms of finding a place to audition. Again, I think I'll just attempt a few Youtube videos.
        • Invent something useful. - But I'm not that smart!!
        • Become a model. - They said I'm too short. LOL Runway models start at 5'7" and I'm only 5'4.5"
        • Start a successful business. - If I had a successful business I would just travel and forget about fame and don't you have to have a level of fame to get success??
        • Do something heroic.- Like what?!? I can't fly, I can't breathe underwater, I don't have x-ray vision and last time I checked I can't lift more than 50 pounds without squinting. What makes a hero?
        • Become an elected official. - Oh HELL no. Too many skeletons in my closet to attempt being an elected official. I prefer being allowed to drink, dance, gamble and make out with my spouse in public thank you.
        • Excel at professional sports. - Nope! Not gonna happen. Not now, not ever! I can't catch a ball even if you are standing right next to me
        • Marry someone already famous- I'll have to check with my current husband in regards to how he feels about this. My guess is he will not be okay with this considering he loves me and I love him...
          2. Make sure that becoming famous is your ultimate dream. DUH! Of course it is!
          3. Do something inspirational so others can look up to you.
          4. Build upon one of the four techniques above to apply it in your desired field of fame. The four techniques they are referring to are from item #3 which they actually call item 1 under the subhead "Be Unique"
          5. Put yourself out there. This is my second favorite tip. I put out, er I mean I put myself out there whenever I can. ;)

          101 in 1001: Read 100 Books

          pile of books

One of the posts I created recently was called 101 in 1001 and it basically was 101 things I want to accomplish in 1001 days. The 101 in 1001 idea was found on Pinterest and I decided I wanted to try it for myself. One of the items on the list was to read 100 books or eBooks. I've started reading my 100 books and here's the list of books read as of 7/17/12:

          Post Vacation Laundry

How is it that my clothes in my suitcase seem to have doubled since going on vacation? I knew I would have a bunch of laundry to do since I snagged some clothes at a thrift store but sheesh!!! I had no clue I would have THIS MUCH!!! Luckily my mom's dog (was my dog before I moved out) came over to visit and help me with the task! :)

          Moonshine!

Moonshine is illegal to make but a company has made it in a fashion that the state deems legal. Apparently if you make your moonshine in a factory instead of your barn and allow the state to put a tax on it then it's legal to have and drink...so...now I will get to try moonshine!

My First Time @ An Estate Sale

Welp, my first day of "vacation" and we got up real early to go to my first ever estate sale. I've been to yard sales but I have never seen anything quite like this. It is definitely intense. We pulled up 10 minutes after it started and there was already a line of cars and a whole mess of people waiting to scoop up any deals they could! Wow!

Pinspired! 101 in 1001 (aaaaannd GO!)

The Famous Ashley Grant and Evan Longoria

I've become quite obsessed with Pinterest and have found lots of blogs that I'm really enjoying thanks to the site. One such blog is called Love From Home. Run by a gal with my name (Ashley- pay attention!), Love From Home is basically about her journey with her fiance's first deployment. One post she had that I fell hard for is entitled "35 in 365" and it's a list of 35 things Ashley wants to do in the roughly 365 of her fiance's deployment to keep herself busy. Her inspiration for this was by "whoever created 101 in 1001."

Because I am not dealing with a deployment but do have a crap ton of goals, I decided to revert back to the original numbers of 101 in 1001. So, below is a list of 101 things I want to accomplish in the next 1001 days. As of today I have 1001 days to make the 101 items in this list a reality. My deadline is March 12, 2015 and as I mark things off this list I'll update it. Maybe I'll even pin some of the stuff as I accomplish it ;)

          Why No Web Series Yet?

          procrastinate this

Well, last month I reported I had a web series in development...why has nothing been posted yet? First, I was all caught up in thinking I should do it a certain way with lights and a backdrop and all that crap and then after driving myself crazy attempting to create the perfect set I realized it's just a vlog for now and doing a video with my webcam is just fine until I see if I even like the series thing...so...why didn't I film something right away after coming to this conclusion???

If you must nose...it's this frikkin zit that I've named Bob that will not get off my nose!!! Bob needs to go! I've tried everything I can think of short of putting Windex on it as was recommended in the flick My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Bob just won't leave my face!!! What's worse is that Bob makes my nose itch so I keep scratching and of course that makes him mad so he gets even by sticking around! Darn you Bob! GET OFF MY FACE!!! Once Bob leaves, I'll film something and put it up for your enjoyment or for you to just make fun of...but hey- page views are page views and those make me HAPPY! Have a happy Friday!

          Just $1 Million

I just want $1 million. That's not much to ask for and I can live off of it the rest of my life so I want the universe to give me one million dollars!

          Thankful for Awesome Nights!!!

Tonight I am thankful for amazing nights!! I had a pretty depressing day but was grateful to be hired to shoot an event filled with celebrities in the evening for a decent chunk of change.

The evening got off to a bumpy start but then (thankfully) turned around when I was offered more money to stick around! Then, after work was over I got a chance to mingle at a great restaurant with the folks that hired me for the evening and some pals of theirs.

Needless to say my dull day turned into an amazing night and I am so grateful and thankful to have had as awesome of a time as I did. Thank you for an amazing time :)

          Wal-Mart Issue Resolved (Sort of)

          gears of war card

The card that caused my headache! I finally got my Xbox live card situation resolved. I got a working card after another trip to Wal-Mart and 30 minutes of being treated as though I was trying to get a second card for free. I'm still not a fan of Wal-Mart and will still do everything humanly possible to avoid shopping there ever again, but the good news is my Xbox live account is back up and running and I am able to access my Netflix videos again so I'm at least content enough to calm down and stop posting angry pics and messages about the retail giant for now... back to my regularly scheduled lazy weekend!

          Now I'm Mad at Wal-Mart!!! Here's WHY!!!

          I am now antiwalmart

Here is what I just sent to the Wal-Mart corporate customer service feedback website word for word:

I only choose Wal-Mart because of the low prices. It's bad enough that everyone else charges too much but today's awful experience makes me NEVER want to visit another Wal-Mart EVER again. First, I found that Wal-Mart had the cheapest price on an Xbox Live card so I drive to buy one only to be informed that the price in store does not match the online price. Needless to say I think this is stupid and have no choice but to drive back home and buy the product online.

I choose the pick up at store option so I can still get the item I need today and when I went to pick it up was waiting WAY too long to be taken care of. Finally…after waiting to the point of my feet hurting an employee comes to get my purchase from the back room and I specifically ask her to make sure my purchase has been activated because it is a prepaid card for Xbox and I know they must be activated to be used…

Well, I make the drive home for the second time only to find that sure enough…the card has NOT been activated and even confirmed this error with Microsoft via live chat to make sure it was not my error. Now it’s too late for me to drive all the way back to Wal-Mart again because the customer service desk is closed and so I’m left without my membership and a very bad taste for Wal-Mart and now Walmart.com as well.

I’m a VERY unhappy customer who is out roughly three hours of driving time, gas money and patience with a retail giant. I have no choice but to make another drive back to the store tomorrow to get another card and at this point I should have just paid the additional $12 via the Xbox website!!!

          Pinspired so I'm Making Magnets!

I love all the crafty things on pinterest! I keep seeing cute magnets so I thought it would be fun to make some on this lazy Sunday :) Yay crafting and yay magnets!

All I used for the adorable zebra magnets was some nifty zebra printed gemstones I snagged at the scrapbook expo in Orlando last weekend and some magnet tape that already has the adhesive on it.

Bonus- X-men is on and Magneto creates magnetic fields! LoL

          Thankful for Beautiful Days

I'm sitting outside at a Panera Bread enjoying a cold diet pepsi, reading the paper and blogging. It is a perfect moment. Birds are chirping and though there is a drunken man that appears to be homeless ranting, horns honking, car alarms going off and other miscellaneous noises in my background I am loving the breeze in my face, the calm in my mind and the happiness in my heart.

Today is one of those days that makes me grateful for beautiful weather. I am so thankful and grateful for blissful moments of peace in the shade. Ahh...what a perfect moment. Thank you thank you thank you for this perfect moment.

My Comedic Debut- Story and Video

So, it's officially up! My video of my first time attempting to be a stand up comedian. If you would like to read the story click HERE

I attempted to be funny for my column "My First Time" in the tbt*. Every other week I submit a story of me doing something I have never done in the Tampa Bay area for the first time. This was my first attempt at being a stand up comedian at the Tampa Improv in Ybor City.

Please- no mean comments! Thanks to IMPROV for letting us film. Sorry about the shaky video- they let us film but did not allow us to use the Tripod :-(

I will be as famous as Julia Allison!!!

          Julia Allison
I will be as famous as Julia Allison and end up in magazines, on magazines and make lots of money! I will earn $60,000 a year as a writer, photographer and blogger. I will go to Europe and I WILL have a million dollars in my bank account ASAP to live off of for the rest of my life!

          images inserted from Wired Magazine

          Operation: "Get Famous" Has Commenced!

Vinny Lecavalier with the Famous Ashley Grant
Vinny Lecavalier with the Famous Ashley Grant
Okay, it is officially May 9, 2012 according to my clock/watch/cell phone/whatever/you get the idea...This means I have exactly 90 days to get as famous as possible or I have to go back to work next year doing a job I honestly don't like...substitute teaching. For those of you who don't know, I have been a substitute teacher off and on for the last five years. I've never liked it and never really wanted to do it. I only stuck with it because the job was flexible enough for me to work when I had to and be able to work on my real job of being a writer and photographer the rest of the time.

After five years of doing this thankless and - to put it bluntly - crappy job I am beyond ready to say goodbye to substitute teaching forever, but to do that I need to be making better than the income I have been making as a writer and photographer by August of this year (i.e. when school starts up again). So, operation "Get Famous" has commenced. My mission over the next 90 days is to become as famous as possible and by that I mean get as much work as possible to keep me in the media world and out of the classrooms of public schools!

I have an ebook in the works and once it is completed I'll be promoting the bajesus out of it; I have a full editorial calendar of things I would like to add to this site The Famous Ashley Grant and to my freebie/couponing/eat free/drink free/get free entertainment Tampa Bay Freebies site; I have a long list of youtube videos waiting to be filmed and posted; Lastly, I have some other websites I'm tweaking to see whether or not they will be made public or continue being my personal diary that just so happens to be online.

Where this summer will take me, I'm not 100% sure. I do know, however, that it's going to be fun! For the first time since high school I have energy (thanks to weight loss that has been a crazy ride that I'm still not really supposed to talk about because the article is still in the works) and for the first time I have a clear mission and what I consider decent steps towards achieving said mission. Here's hoping to a successful summer!

p.s. the photo above of me with Vinny Lecavalier is just one of my steps towards becoming FAMOUS! I'm totally okay with being famous by association. Worked for Julia Allison...so why not me, right?

Things Pinterest Taught Me: Things to Do With Cadbury Eggs

          Cabury Eggs

Anyone who knows me knows lately I've been OBSESSED with Pinterest!!! Oh my goodness! Some might say I've even been PINSPIRED!!! Since joining the site I've made organizers, thrown out clutter, made homemade laundry detergent (future post coming about it!), made a knockoff of febreze, windex and hand soap and so much more!! I frikkin' love the site. Lately on the site I've been learning a ton about Cadbury Eggs. In the spirit of Easter weekend I decided to share with you the things I've learned you can do with a Cadbury Egg!

          1. Cadbury Cupcakes! Pinned here. Blogged about here. The shear genius of this is hard to deny. Add one Cadbury Eggs to the center of 24 chocolate cupcakes before baking and then add another after you ice them for a double dose of awesome with each cup of sugary heaven!
          2. Cadbury Brownies! Pinned here. Blogged about here. Okay, so these brownies don't ACTUALLY have any Cadbury Eggs in them, but they are inspired by them and the filling made for them is supposed to be very similar to what you would find inside an egg...
          3. Make a turducken! Pinned here. Blogged about here. This highly caloric concoction may push you into a diabetic coma and frighteningly enough requires the use of power tools but effectively calls for shoving a mini Cadbury Egg into the body of a peep and then shoving those two into a hollowed out chocolate bunny.
          4. Drink your egg! Pinned here. Blogged about here. The Caramel Cadbury Egg martini recipe calls for 1-1/2 ounces Baileys Irish Cream with Caramel, 1/2 ounce crème de cacao, 1 ounce caramel syrup, 1 ounce cream and 1/2 tablespoon Hershey’s chocolate syrup (plus extra Hershey’s chocolate syrup for rim). A few shakes and the garnishing of a Cadbury Egg on the side and there you have it!
          5. Go gourmet with Cadbury Egg Brulee! Pinned here. Blogged about here. Four ounces of mini Cadbury Eggs, some heavy cream, eggs, sugar, elbow grease and some time in an oven will leave you with a ramekin filled with chocolatey goodness ready to devour!

If these ideas don't tickle your fancy you could always just settle for eating them right out of their package.
Happy Easter! May your Cadburg Eggs be a plenty and may all their calories not stick to you!
