I Don't Like Hershey's Drops

CVS had this awesome deal for black Friday to buy Hershey's Drops & get extra care bucks that essentially made them free. Thank goodness they were free because I honestly want to throw them out after trying them. On the plus side they taste like a Hershey's Kiss & that is great, but the downside is the way the folks at Hershey accomplished having no mess & no candy shell. These little pieces of chocolate taste, look & feel like they are coated in wax. It just felt like I was chewing a preservative. Never has chocolate (especially Hershey's) made me want to spit it out so badly. I will stick to Hershey's classic bars & kisses from now on.

Gallery Spotlight: La Dolce Vino 9.24.2011

Something about today is making me reminisce about the awesome night I had Saturday, September, 24, 2011 at Tampa Theatre for their La Dolce Vino wine tasting. Perhaps its the fact that I'm craving the Viktoria Richards Chocolates, maybe its the yummy appetizers from SideBern's that are making me hungry...or it could be that I found the goofy pics from the photo booth on my desk. Ding ding ding!!! That night was sooo much fun! It is definitely a work perk to get to go to awesome events and then enjoy them when the work is done!

Follow Your Dreams

Remember in grade school when teachers had motivational posters that were so encouraging? They said things like "You can achieve anything!" or "Reach for the stars!" or "Follow your dreams!"

Then, one day the posters fell to the back burner. It was time to study harder, read more, ace the test and get into a good college.

Somewhere along the way we quit dreaming. A piece of us dies with every dream we give up on. The good news is we can revive it! So...wherever you are today dream a little. Think back to when you were 5 & wanted to be a ballerina or a fireman or an astronaut or a teacher or a rock star. Whatever it was dream about what it would be like to live it out. Remember that its never too late to follow your dreams.

The best part about remembering your old dreams is that you may find a way for them to come true. Just that thought alone could be the motivation you need for big & amazing things to come into your life.

Reach for the stars! You CAN achieve anything!

WTF Friday?!? 11-11-11

Just when you thought you had heard it all...there is now this! Ladies are getting drunk via tampons soaked in vodka. There are new ways to get drunk all the time it seems...The first new way I heard was a alcohol enema where you literally put alcohol in your bum to get a buzz. The second new way I heard was to soak your gummy bears in vodka to hide that you are drinking. The latest way is to insert vodka soaked tampons vaginally and anally. wow! what do you think?!?

For more ways to ingest vodka check out the 7 Most Efficient Ways to Ingest Vodka in fact...please don't!

Drink responsibly people!!! The Famous Ashley Grant does not recommend drinking in excess or using ANY of the ways mentioned in this post to get drunk or even to get a buzz!

To see more bizarre things you can do with a tampon you gotta see this weird site: Tampon Crafts! WTF?!?

Napkin Testimonials!

I thought it would be fun to have people write testimonies about me. When I had this brilliant idea I was hanging out with Caroline "The Photo Ninja" Smith of Caroline and Evan Photography. It began with Caroline telling me that I was a hoot and me asking her if I could get it in writing. Well, needless to say the only thing I had for anyone to write on was napkins. So began the writing of napkin testimonials for the rest of the night at the Working Women of Tampa Bay event Ladies Night Off at Push Ultra Lounge on Tuesday, November, 8 in St. Pete.

Without further adieu, here are the 6 awesome napkin testimonials I received about me, The Famous Ashley Grant. LOL

I'm Frikkin Getting Direct Deposit!!!

As a freelancer I regrettably always assumed that direct deposit was not an option. So, every month I would wait to receive my checks and drive down to the bank to deposit my checks. Well, recently I was prompted to ask every client if they allow direct deposit because the stupid tellers have been just a little more curious about my checks than I am comfortable with. If I get a check that is bigger than $500 it doesn't necessarily mean I got paid $500 for a single story but these rude tellers look at my checks and have been making comments like "Wow you get paid a lot, maybe I should be a writer or photographer," or "Dang girl you must be making a fortune with The Paper Times."

Even if I was/am getting paid $500 for every story or photo that is none of their damn business. Reading the check and then inquiring is rude, unprofessional and in my opinion unethical. After getting annoyed about this happening for a few months my plan was to start using the ATM to deposit to avoid the tellers completely but the reader's digest version is I don't yet have an ATM card for my business account which has left me having to go in and deposit.

So, I asked every person I write for regularly if they have a direct deposit system and 3 of my clients do! I'm thrilled to report I'm signing up for direct deposit with every one of those 3 and will always ask going forward if direct deposit is an option. Not only will it help me get my money faster, but now I can hopefully avoid questions from overly inquisitive bank employees!

In summary...Regardless of where you work- I recommend you ask for Direct Deposit!

What do you think? Do bank employees need to keep their mouths shut about the check's they are depositing or is it okay for them to inquire about what you get paid for?

Am I Too Ignorant?

Downloaded image of a girl studying from elementarytests.com

The other night while out to dinner I told a friend that I'm purposefully ignorant of many things. Rather than set myself up for arguments and drama I intentionally do not learn things that are going on in the world because most of it seems to be bad news and I always try to suck the negativity out like venom in a bite and spit it away to be released from my life...but lately I've been wondering...am I too ignorant?

Sadly, I'm starting to think the answer to this question may be yes.

When I was in school I fear I didn't really learn enough of anything. I got into a very severe habit of memorizing information, regurgitating it on the day of the test and then immediately forgetting it to prepare for the next exam. The result of 12 years of public school and 6 years of college is that there are many things I don't know, can't recall and/or never bothered to really pay attention to.

In fact, the funny thing is I've learned more since graduating high school and college than I ever did while in school. However, I think it's time to focus on learning more, reading more and paying more attention. The question now is-what do I want to know?
